Protect the interior plastic by parking the vehicle in the shade. Use a window deflector screen, and applying a UV protectant to prevent the plastic and vinyl from drying out.
    May 9, 2019
This means it is adept at attracting moisture. Moisture causes components to corrode and fail. Replace fluid and bleed system once a year. Brake fluid is cheap. Calipers, hoses, and sensors are expensive.
    May 9, 2019
While washing the outside of the vehicle is obvious, most everything the vehicle ran over can also get stuck to the underside. Hosing off winter salt and road grime is a good idea.
    May 9, 2019
When should I change out transmission fluid and differential oils? No single step will help an engine last more than regular oil and filter changes will. Conversely, nothing will destroy an engine faster than neglecting oil-level checks or fresh-oil changes.
While not requiring frequent service, these fluids must be changed according to service intervals. Always use transmission fluid or gear oil of the recommended type and viscosity.
    May 9, 2019
Flush the cooling system and change coolant once a year. If you hear a grinding or squealing sound when pressure is applied to the brake, you probably need new brake shoes or pads. Brakes should not make any noise as they operate.
Even if the actual problem turns out to be something minor, If your brakes are noisy it may be unsafe. Waiting to have brakes serviced is not recommended and could raise repair cost.
If your brakes are making noise, it is recommended to have them inspected or serviced as soon as possible.
    May 9, 2019
Flush the cooling system and change coolant once a year. A 50/50 mix of coolant and distilled water will keep the cooling system in good shape and prevent corrosion and deposits from building up inside the cooling system.
    May 9, 2019
If you are driving and the vehicle starts to overheat, turn off the air conditioner, turn on the heater and immediately pull over to the shoulder. The odds are if the vehicle starts to overheat, there is a problem in the cooling system such as low coolant, a clogged radiator or a broken drive belt or burst hose.
Once at the shoulder, shut off the engine, open the hood and let the engine cool down for a minimum of 30 minutes.
Once any heating stops and the engine has cooled, look for obvious signs of trouble.
DO NOT attempt to open the radiator cap unless the engine is off and the top of the radiator is cold.
If there is no noticeable problem such as a broken drive belt or burst hose, at this point if possible you can then add a coolant/water mixture to the radiator or overflow reservoir, then start the vehicle and drive slowly to a service station.
    May 9, 2019
It is possible but often not usual, unless the light is flashing. A decrease in vehicle performance is possible. Recommended to have your vehicle serviced as soon as possible. Quicker servicing may lead to less repairs.
    May 9, 2019
What should the tire pressure be on my Vehicle?
The tire pressure should always be set to the tire manufacturer's suggest PSI (pounds per square inch) pressure specs. The specs can be found on the side of your tire. Properly inflated tires will give you better gas mileage and less tire wear.
Check your tire pressure. Invest a few dollars in a tire gauge and check your tire pressure regularly (including the spare). This helps improve fuel efficiency, cut down on tire wear and tear and lets you know if your vehicle is aligned correctly.
    May 9, 2019
Oil change, this is one of the simplest car maintenance services you can do to keep your vehicle in good running condition. Not maintaining it could void your warranty and even cause an engine failure, which can cost thousands . Keeping your cooling system in working order is also important. This is also a good time to have a system flush. Having the pump, hoses, fluids and belts checked is also part of proper cooling-system maintenance.

Washing not only keeps your vehicle looking good, it's also a good way to maintain that new-car finish. Layers of dead bugs, bird drops, dirt, leaves and chemicals can accumulate on your vehicle can strip away wax and eventually paint. If you choose to wash your car yourself, it is not recomended to use household products, for example, hand soap, dishwashing detergent, furniture spray, or glass cleaner, which can also strip off the protective wax. Use products designed specifically for cars.

How does waxing help vehicle maintenance?
Nothing keeps paint looking good and protected like a coat of quality wax. Apply wax at least every six months.
    May 9, 2019
Replace the air filter. An air filter can be described as a vehicle's lungs. A clogged air filter can reduce gas mileage in older cars with carbureted engines by as much as 14 percent. Replacing clogged air filters can help improve acceleration time.

    1) Check your owner’s guide and find out when your scheduled car maintenance services are. Usually maintenance is done every 30,000 miles and it involves checking or replacing parts like spark plugs, wires and timing belts. Down the line, other major parts may need replacing in order to keep your vehicle running efficiently and safely. Wear & tear can naturally occur based on usage of vehicle. While it may cost a little more, scheduling service through your dealer not only guarantees genuine parts and expertise, it also keeps your service history in line and up to date, which will attract more buyers and higher prices when it comes to selling your car.

    CV & Drive Axles

DESCRIPTION OF AXLE, CV JOINT, DRIVESHAFT REPAIR

Your vehicle’s axle, CV joint, and driveshaft components are integral to the performance and drivability of your vehicle. The driveshaft is a steel or aluminum component that connects the transmission to the rear differential. The driveshaft connects to the transmission through the CV joints, which are responsible for transferring the torque from the transmission to the drive wheels at a constant speed. Front wheel drive vehicles use CV joints on the front axles. CV joints allow the axle to bend and change while accommodating the bounce of the wheels. The axle bears the weight of the vehicle while also being strong sustaining the force from braking and accelerating. Over time and through normal use, most vehicle’s axle, CV joint, and driveshaft components may require maintenance or replacement services.

BENEFITS OF AXLE, CV JOINT, DRIVESHAFT REPAIR

Signs to look for when determining when to schedule an inspection of your vehicle’s front axle, rear axle, CV joints, and driveshaft components. Clunking or clicking noises are signs for CV joint needs replacement. Vibrations during acceleration may indicate a damaged driveshaft, though they may also point to an axle issue depending on the vehicle. Turning and steering issues may also arise from a problem with the driveshaft. CV joints can go bad when the grease leaks out of a damaged CV boot. There are various determinants for how quickly your vehicle’s axle, CV joint, and driveshaft components will degrade over time. If you would like to learn more about the intervals between repairs for front wheel drive axles, main driveshafts, CV joints, U-joints, yokes, and other axle assembly components, then contact us.

The axle on your vehicle is the structural component that connects two wheels together on opposite sites. It's a load-bearing assembly that acts like a central shaft, maintaining the position of the wheels relative to each other and to the vehicle body. The construction of your axle is designed according to what your vehicle is built for; trucks and off-road vehicles are equipped with axles that keep the wheel positions steady under heavy stress (ideal for supporting heavy loads), while conventional axles are constructed for the needs of the general consumer. But no matter what you drive, remember that your vehicle's axle must bear the weight of your vehicle (plus any cargo) and the acceleration forces between you and the ground. So when it comes to axle inspection, we are your source for professional, knowledgeable service—essential for the equipment that carries you and your family to wherever you need to go.

Here is a brief description of the most common axle design:

    Drive/CV Axle:

Simply put, a drive axle is one that is driven by the engine. Typically found in modern front wheel drive vehicles, a drive axle is split between two half axles, with differential and universal joints between them. Each half axle is connected to the wheel by a third joint—the constant velocity (CV) joint—that allows the wheels to move freely. This joint allows the shaft to rotate, transmitting power at a constant speed without a significant increase in friction and heat. CV joints are usually dependable, but, as is the case for all of your vehicle's moving equipment, they do require regular inspection. An easy way for you to tell if you need to see us for axle repair is to go out to a large space (such as a parking lot), and slowly drive in tight circles. If you hear a clicking or cracking noise, you have a worn joint, and it must be repaired immediately.

Computerized Engine Analysis & Diagnostics - Engine Diagnostics

A Picture and or video will be here

DESCRIPTION OF ENGINE DIAGNOSTICS AND PERFORMANCE

Every vehicle built since 1996 has been equipped with an On-Board Diagnostics System that monitors engine performance. Discrepancies in performance levels are reported through your vehicle’s computer system. Once the “check engine” or “service engine” light is displayed, your next step should be to seek out an engine diagnostic service or an engine tune-up. Engine diagnostics allow our staff to gather helpful information about the operating condition of your engine. The insights obtained during an engine diagnostic will determine the extent of suggested engine repairs. The most common diagnostic trouble codes are generated in response to malfunctions in the powertrain. Ultimately, regular engine tune-ups are necessary to optimize engine performance. A tune-up is also one of the most effective ways to prevent unexpected engine trouble. During an engine tune-up, our staff may replace the spark plugs, spark plug wires, air filter, fuel filter, and distributor cap and rotor in your vehicle. Our experts will also check emission levels, fuel lines, and belts and hoses. Engine diagnostics and regular engine tune-ups can help extend the life of your vehicle and improve the health of your engine.

BENEFITS OF ENGINE DIAGNOSTICS AND PERFORMANCE

While regular engine maintenance will help ensure that your engine always performs at peak conditions, there are also signs you can look for that indicate an engine repair service is needed. The “check engine” or “service engine” light is a sure sign that your engine should be looked at by an expert sooner than later. Most of the time, your vehicle’s On-Board Diagnostics System will detect an engine issue and store the corresponding repair code, which can be accessed by a member of our service staff. Slow-cranking, rough idling, stalling, knocking, or pinging while accelerating are all signs that you should seek engine repairs or engine diagnostics to determine the full extent of your engine trouble. A decrease in gas mileage and detectable loss of power during acceleration are also signs of an impending engine tune-up or engine repair service. Engine warning lights help alert drivers to minor issues before they become major repairs. Be sure to follow up with our staff once your vehicle's On-Board Diagnostics System detects a problem with your engine.

Your modern vehicle's engine is a highly sophisticated piece of equipment. The days of your father's gas-guzzler are long gone—instead, Federal Exhaust Emission and Fuel Economy regulations demand that today's vehicles be equipped with electronic engine control systems, to curb carbon emissions and increase fuel efficiency. With technically-advanced control systems taking the place of simple engine components, common maintenance services such as tune-ups are also a thing of the past. Regular services (such as spark plug and filter replacements) are still required, as well as a computerized analysis of your vehicle's control computer. Our factory-trained technicians are here to provide these basic services.

Here's how your modern vehicle's control computer operates:

A network of sensors and switches convert and monitor engine operating conditions into electrical signals. The computer receives this information, and, based on information and instructions coded within this savvy computer program, commands are sent to three different systems: ignition, fuel, and emission control. Whenever a problem arises (as seen by that nagging "check engine" light), our service pros check whatever command is prompted, in addition to the status of your engine control computer and sensors. DESCRIPTION OF BELTS & HOSES

A vehicle’s belts and hoses are involved in the processes within the cooling system, air conditioning system, charging system, and engine. These belts and hoses play important functional operations inside your vehicle. The heater hose and radiator hose transport liquid coolant to and from the engine, radiator, and heater core. The timing belt maintains engine precision by synchronizing the rotation of the crankshaft and camshaft, which move the engine’s valves and pistons. Not all vehicles contain timing belts. In place of timing belts, some vehicles use timing chains (BMW, Mercedes Benz). On the outside of the engine, the serpentine belt transmits power from the front of the engine to other systems in the vehicle, like the air conditioning system and charging system. Some factors that contribute to wear and tear on your belts and hoses include vehicle age, mileage, belt tension, hose clamp failure, electrochemical degradation, and oil contamination. Routine maintenance and replacements of your vehicle’s belts and hoses will prevent breakdowns and costly repairs.

    BENEFITS OF BELTS & HOSES

If you compare to other components in your car, belts and hoses have one of the shortest life spans. While constantly exposed to engine heat, vehicle vibrations, and harmful chemicals, which all have the potential to cause cracks and leaks, belts and or hoses will only last for so long. Some signs to be aware of for belts and hoses nearing failure are, squeaking, screeching, and or grinding noises that begin when starting your engine or appear during vehicle operation. It's worth noting that grinding sounds near belts are usually associated with a bad pulley bearing rather than the belt itself, as the pulley bearing may freeze up and ultimately lead to a belt replacement. Other symptoms of a bad belt or hose include loss of power, leaking coolant or other fluids, illuminated dashboard lights, rising steam from the engine, and air conditioning failure. While routine maintenance of belts and hoses is always important, summertime is an especially important season to keep an eye under the hood due to increased temperatures, which will accelerate deterioration of the rubber components. Since belts and hoses can be difficult to inspect visually, be sure to follow your manufacturer’s recommendations for scheduled maintenance.

Among all the equipment in your vehicle, belts and hoses have the shortest lifespan. Due to constant exposure to heat, vibration, and harmful chemicals, these components invariably crack, leak, fray, and peel. If not promptly replaced and maintained, this could spell disaster for the performance of your vehicle. And evaluating the condition of your belts and hoses only on their appearance is not enough! Diligent inspection is required, and we are here to do it. Here is a sample of how we ensure belt and hose quality:

    Visual Inspection of Belts

    • Search for clear indications of damage (cracking, glazing, softening, or peeling)

    • Test for correct tension

    • Test for correct alignment

    • Record belt condition for future reference

    Visual Inspection of Hoses

    • Search for clear indications of damage (leaks, cracks, hardening, or softening)

    • Test cooling system for leaks using state-of-the-art pressure technology

    • Record hose condition for future reference

It is vital to inspect your vehicle's belts and hoses on a regular basis because often times a damaged piece has serious effects on the condition of your vehicle. Research shows that while most people are attentive when it comes to regular oil changes, they hardly devote any concern at all to the condition of their belts and hoses. A leaking hose or a cracked belt will cause you more trouble than an overdue oil change ever will! The following is a brief description of some of the different belts and hoses we inspect:

    Drive Belts:

    • The engine itself is used as a power source to drive some of your vehicle's accessories. Instead of being supplied by electric power, these accessories rely on a series of pulleys and belts to operate. Some of these accessories include:

    ◦ Power steering pump

    ◦ Alternator

    ◦ Air conditioning compressor

    ◦ Radiator cooling fan

    ◦ Water pump

Most older vehicles require a single serpentine belt to power these accessories (as opposed to several individual belts).

    Hoses:

    • If you think of hoses as your vehicle's circulatory system, then you'll have an appropriate representation of how important they are. Channeling car fluids to their correct destination, hoses are composed of two rubber layers with fabric in between. Types of hoses vary on make and model, but typically they include:

    ◦ Fuel hose (sends gasoline from the gas tank to the engine)

    ◦ Radiator hose (delivers coolant to engine)

    ◦ Power steering hose (connects power steering pump to steering equipment)

Heater hose (provides coolant to heater core)

    Batteries

Let's face it: you can have the most meticulously-maintained vehicle on the road, but it won't start without the right battery, properly installed and appropriately fitted for your driving needs. From ignition to door locks, your car battery is the catalyzing force that allows you to get from point A to point B. The following is a brief overview of the electrical system that makes transportation possible:

    1. Battery

Composed of a series of lead plates submerged in a 35% sulfuric acid/65% water solution, your 12-volt battery houses a chemical reaction that releases electrons through conductors, producing electricity which is then channeled into your vehicle's electrical system. When your car's engine is off, the battery supplies electricity to all of the electrical system components, including the essential power required to start your vehicle. In periods of high demand, the battery also supplements power from the charging system.

    2. Charging System

The charging system is life force of your vehicle's electrical system, consisting of three main mechanisms: the alternator, various circuits, and the voltage regulator. The alternator has two roles. It: a) provides power to the electrical system, and b) recharges the battery after the car has started. The various circuits act as conduits for electrical power, and the voltage regulator controls the voltage passed through these circuits. Remember, all of these components require consistent attention and maintenance. It's not just your battery that needs to be replaced every so often; if one of these components should fail, that pulsating power source is now reduced to a lifeless, twenty pound paper weight.

    3. Starting System:

It may seem obvious that the starting system turns your vehicle's engine on, but did you know that this process consumes much more electrical power than anything else your car does? That's because the starting system consists of three components working one after another. Here's how it works: there's the ignition switch, the starter relay (or solenoid), and the starter motor. Turning the key causes a small amount of current to pass through the starter relay, allowing a stronger current to flow through the battery cables and into the starter motor. The starter motor cranks the engine, forcing the piston to create enough suction that draws a fuel and air mixture into the cylinder. The ignition system creates a spark that ignites the mixture, and combustion is born.

    DESCRIPTION OF CLIMATE CONTROL SYSTEMS

A climate control system is a complex system that requires routine maintenance for increased seasonal performance and operation. A vehicle’s climate control system is comprised of multiple, smaller systems that work together to maintain a comfortable cabin environment. The climate control system is able to affect and regulate the internal temperature of a vehicle through a cycle of processes. Although the climate control system is primarily used to improve the comfort levels of both drivers and passengers, there are times over the course of the year when maintaining the ideal internal temperature becomes more than a matter of comfort. In severe weather conditions, maintaining the proper internal climate can actually factor into automotive safety. This is why it is important for you to seek climate control repairs at the first sign of trouble.

    BENEFITS OF CLIMATE CONTROL SYSTEMS

When your vehicle’s climate control system malfunctions or stops working, it is important to schedule a climate control repair service. In addition to regaining the comfortable cabin environment you enjoyed prior to your system’s problems, you can help ensure your safety as a driver. If you pay attention to the warning signs of an impending climate control system service, you may be able to prevent a broken system and subsequent safety concerns. In addition, your owner’s manual should provide recommended regular service intervals for climate control systems. Catching early warning signs and replacing or repairing climate control system components as necessary will help ensure your ability to control air outflow at all times.

It's the first hot day of the summer. Uncomfortably shifting in your seat, you turn on that long-neglected AC knob, only to discover an unwelcome blast of warm air streaming out from the vents. A bad situation made worse: that's when you turn to us—your air conditioning service and repair headquarters. Did you know that without regular maintenance an air conditioner loses about 5% of its original efficiency per year? This means that without proper maintenance, your air conditioning unit may be performing as poorly as other models that are years older! But there is good news: you can still recover most of that lost efficiency. Schedule an appointment with one of our factory-trained professionals—we understand all aspects of AC repair, from modern computerized components to environmental disposal concerns. Today's AC systems are fairly complex, and new improvements are always being initiated. That's why you need to turn to us, the qualified source for everything related to your air conditioning system. The following is a brief schematic of some of the basic components that comprise this system:

Compressor: • The compressor is a belt-driven device that derives its name from compressing refrigerant gas and transferring it into the condenser. While basically acting as a simple pump, the compressor is the core of your vehicle's air conditioning system.

Condenser: • The condenser's primary function is to cool the refrigerant. It is a heat dissipating apparatus that radiates heat released by compressed gases and condenses them into high pressure liquids. The location of your condenser depends on how new your car is, but typically it's found at the front of the vehicle, directly in front of the engine cooling radiator.

Receiver (drier): • The receiver is a metal container that serves as a storage receptacle for the refrigerant. It's also referred to as a drier because it absorbs moisture from the refrigerant and filters out particles of debris and harmful acids that would otherwise harm your AC system. Commonly located on the liquid line of the AC system, you should change your drier every 3-4 years to insure quality filtration and prevent any damage caused by these detrimental chemicals.

Orifice tube/expansion valve: • The orifice tube (also known as the expansion valve) is a controlling mechanism that regulates the flow of refrigerant throughout the system. In addition to this, it also converts high pressure liquid refrigerant (from the condenser) into a low pressure liquid, so that it can enter the evaporator. Generally located at the evaporator inlet, the orifice tube could also be found between the condenser and the evaporator, or in the outlet of the condenser. Evaporator The evaporator is designed to remove heat from the inside of your vehicle; therefore it's a heat exchanger that's vital to your vehicle's AC system (not to mention your comfort). The evaporator allows the refrigerant to absorb heat, causing it to boil and change into a vapor. When this occurs, the vapor is removed from the evaporator by the compressor, cooling your car and reducing humidity. Because the evaporator houses the most refrigerant in this heat transfer process, it is the most susceptible to corrosion by harmful acids. Usually this damages the evaporator beyond repair, which is why it's imperative you see us to prevent this from happening.
